Dexter Morgan: I lived in the dark for a long time
plays the father in some shots, as the two look remarkably alike. Dexter, seen throughout the first season, has a large scar on his left side. Later in the second season, the scar moved to the right side while the left side remained unmarked. Over the years my eyes adjusted until darkness became my world and I could see.

Greenberg, and the cast includes Buffy/Angel mainstay Julie Benz).Dexter is a sociopath, a man with no human feelings, and therefore no natural, internal moral compass, and he has an unquenchable lust for blood, which drives him to kill himself. However, he had the great grace of being adopted by a police officer who (as we see in the horrific flashbacks) successfully instilled in him a complete moral code that he adheres to on a strictly intellectual level.
I’ve seen the future of TV season structuring, and this is it
It’s an absolutely brilliant concept (I think it comes from the novels it’s based on) that allows the writers to explore the nature of moral behavior and what it means to be human (Dexter is, in a way, an alien). Another thing the show does well is is parallel movement at different speeds. There’s the main obvious season-long story (which involves a cat-and-mouse game between Dexter and the serial killer), and a secondary arc involving Dexter’s sister’s police career. The first handful of episodes include a very powerful wrap-up arc about one of Dexter’s police colleagues and a local crime lord, and two of the four episodes so far have also featured a standalone story that ties into (and plays out) the events.

While the writing isn’t up to _House_’s best, it was excellent. The cast and production are amazing. The only reason you wouldn’t want to watch this absolutely amazing show is the frequent use of extremely revealing images: these first four episodes have probably shown more body parts than the first four episodes of every other TV show. If you can dispel it, tune it to look at what makes us human—or inhuman.
