American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Scenario
Follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her exceptional wit helps solve a crime by reorganizing evidence during her shift as a cleaning lady for the police department. Despite her very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of In this arcane, Morgan makes a series of fundamental legal errors that anyone who has ever watched a TV show about law will know not to make. In the first episode, for example, she obtains a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – evidence obtained illegally. Nor could it be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”.
Remake of HPI (2021)
In episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in issue #3, she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making whatever she removed no longer admissible in court either. This series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who works as a night janitor at the LAPD. When she looks at a case file, it intrigues her and she makes some corrections to a murder chart. This leads the department to realize that she has a talent for perceiving, assimilating, and organizing facts, i.e.
Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk
evidence. They hire her as a consultant. Consider her. Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and a perceptive mind.
She’s also very assertive
Like Monk, she is hampered by OCD, but not as neurotically as Monk. But she feels she has to reconcile all the conflicting data (like an itch to scratch). And while Morgan sometimes feels like an outsider, she’s very empathetic. I really enjoy this show, even though there have been many other police procedurals where a civilian with unusual talents works with cops.
The kids are interesting, too
Morgan’s character is fun to watch. And the cases come up with interesting solutions. She also has three kids, so she’s always balancing work and family. In the first episode, her young son helps her with her case, behind the scenes.
