A grief therapist begins telling his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives — including his own. The cast of ‘Shrinking’ shares the best moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who has the best Harrison Ford impersonation. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and that he was going to audition people similar to Ford.

Segel told Goldstein that they should at least pitch him to Ford first, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been brought on, sparking interest from other notable actors. Ultimately, Goldstein talked to Ford and convinced him to take the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was thrilled nonetheless.

Two episodes are out now and this show is showing a lot of promise, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and even weirdly so at times… it’s comforting in a way that most shows aren’t, only reminiscent of Community for those elements. I don’t know if it accurately depicts how a therapist deals with problems, but it certainly leaves room for Jason Segel to put his own spin on it.
Rhodes, Jason’s boss and mentor of sorts
I wasn’t sure how his character would work in this show, but Rhodes’ antisocial resemblance certainly plays into a personality that Ford comes across quite well when you think of the more anxious elements of his Han Solo character in Star Wars, it fits this show like a glove. In a way too close to reality, Sean (Luke Tennie) is sort of playing the role of a son to Jimmy (Segel) as he deals with his own family issues with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell)… What I see here seems so alive and the possibilities maybe (?) endless as I watch Jimmy navigate these things.
And the music for this show is so good
By the way, the intro theme for this show is so good that I didn’t even skip it while watching the 2nd episode… Overall, this is turning out to be a wonderful show and I hope it only gets better from here on out.
